Modular build is key to UK’s economic recovery

Updated: Jul 22

Modular has been put firmly on the map with a new government task force and industry publications like this article in the New Civil Engineer.

Key to the UK’s economic recovery was stated as "accelerating modern methods of construction (MMC)" and being at the forefront is importantly offsite modular build.

A new MMC task force has put this on the agenda, which we at Flexi Group UK, feel is a great first step.

From our own client work, we know that modular build delivers not just increased speed of construction, but many more benefits, including:-

  • Improved health and safety on site - especially important with respect to the pandemic

  • Solving resource issues - decreasing the gap of trained and skilled people

  • Reduces the impact on road congestion - and lowers pollution

  • Improves sustainability - towards zero net carbon

  • Increased efficiency - providing commercial benefits

Design Matters: Kate Watson, Consultant of Patrick Parsons shares “While constraints will differ with variances of each system provider, fundamentally the units need to stack”.

Flexi Group UK have several modular solutions that are designed to stack, integrate and complement. Our modular product suite offers: stairs, walls, floors, cores, balconies, etc… which deliver all of these advantages to our clients.

New policy: Watson made further key points that The MMC task force shows the government’s commitment, but more needs to be done, such as increased support for research and development to integrate technologies with lower carbon solutions…”.

Flexi are continually investing in our research and development for modular solutions and we are involved in many projects that utilise the latest sustainable products.
